I’ve added excellent new specimens from the John S. White collection. The theme of this update began as quartz with inclusions, but there are specimens exhibiting other phenomena as well – phantoms, zoning, selective deposition.

I’ve posted great new U.S. specimens from the Pete Richards Collection. These include copper from the Keweenaw Peninsula, a world-class awaruite, personally-collected NY hematite specimens and more

I am excited to tell you that the Pete Richards collection is here! Over his lifetime, Pete has built a remarkable large mineral collection with great diversity and great specimens. This first of many Pete Richards collection updates to come features excellent U.S. specimens.

It’s hard to believe how different the world was, only a few weeks ago. Who imagined then, all the ways in which our lives would be impacted in the weeks after Tucson. It will be a while until all of us are once again together at a large international show, which makes it all the more important to enjoy show memories and stay connected online. In that light, let’s travel back to Tucson…

I’ve added great new specimens in a new update of pieces from the Steve Szilard Collection. Steve is a well-known and highly respected Canadian mineral collector and this update includes fine mineral specimens from all over the world.

I’ve added a small number of excellent hematite specimens in this France Hematite Update. I’ve had a few of these in the past, and have managed to obtain a few more. These hematites were excavated from a deposit in the hills just above the town of Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines.

In the heart of France’s Vosges Mountains, each June, Mineral World assembles at Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines, for what is always a great mineral show. This post gives a glimpse of some of this year’s finds, including gorgeous red zircon crystals, bi-coloured spodumene, clinochlore crystals and some classic French hematites from just outside of Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines.

The Rochester Mineralogical Symposium is one of the best annual events in Mineral World. This post about RMS 2017 includes lots of great mineral photographs, with many from prominent mineral photographers Jeff Scovil and Michael Bainbridge.
